What defines us as individuals? Zariya delves into this profound question, unraveling the intricate interplay between the body, mind, and intellect. This Kathak-based dance production takes audiences on a transformative journey of self-exploration, examining the thoughts, actions, and reactions that shape our existence.

Pushing the boundaries of traditional dance, Zariya introduces a unique concept, brought to life through powerful choreography. It offers more than a performance—it’s an experience that bridges introspection and artistic expression.

Supported by the National Arts Council Singapore, Zariya is a collaborative masterpiece with the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS).

About Patang

Zariya is the brainchild of Patang, a dynamic performing arts group founded by SIFAS alumni Aishwarya Nishikant Kunte, Os Agarwal, and Swathi Madhavan. As disciples of Guru Mulla Afsar Khan, the trio boasts over two decades of collective Kathak expertise, each holding diplomas from SIFAS.

Patang’s mission is to celebrate and share the beauty of Kathak with diverse audiences, exploring themes that are both traditional and universal. Known for their innovative approach, Patang creates performances that are both accessible and profound.

Their stellar reputation includes two consecutive years of performances at the Esplanade’s Kalaa Utsavam in 2022 and 2023. These original works, lauded for their creativity and depth, have solidified Patang’s place in Singapore’s cultural landscape. Beyond performances, Os and Swathi are dedicated to teaching Kathak, ensuring its legacy flourishes across generations.

Patang’s work embodies the fusion of tradition with contemporary relevance, making Kathak resonate with audiences of all ages and backgrounds. As they continue to innovate, they aim to inspire and connect through the timeless art of dance.
